Pediatric Orthopedics

Sunshine Hospitals is dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people suffering with complex musculoskeletal conditions.  The multi-disciplinary effort of orthopedists, rheumatologists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, nurses, and therapists (physical, occupational, and speech) ensure that children receive top-class treatment.

Children too can face orthopaedic issues. And extending care to children differs from that to the adults. Some of the common conditions faced by the children are:

Sever's disease - a painful condition of the heel in growing children.

Clubfoot - an inborn deformity of the feet seen in newborn children causing the feet to point down and inwards.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta - a childhood disorder causing defect in production of a protein called collagen leading to many problems including frequent fractures.

Kohler's Disease - a condition of the midfoot seen in children around the age of 5 years

Sprengel's Deformity - an odd state of the shoulder seen in children where the undescended scapula sits higher on the back than the other side

There are other orthopaedic problems witnessed in children due to wearing backpacks, sport related injuries, stress involving knee motions, and others.

At Sunshine, a subspecialty area within the Orthopaedic Surgery department that attends to orthopaedic cases in children is the Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery division. Our team of Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons are specialized in considering the specific issues in the treatment of children. Our team holds decades of collective experience in attending child cases gathered at leading institutions in India and overseas.
